We are starting in-person hearings, but if you can appear via Zoom, please let the Court or your attorney know at 740-592-3328. Please be aware, we have limited seating in the courtroom, and so observers may not be permitted access. Masks are required.
If you have an attorney, please stay in contact with them. If you do not, please contact the Court at 740-592-3328 to check on the status of your case.
If you are under probation conditions, please contact by telephone your probation officer and comply with their directives.
If you need to make a payment on fines and costs, you can pay online or via the phone at 740-249-1037. You can also mail in a check or money order to Athens County Municipal Court, 8 E. Washington Street, Athens, Ohio 45701.
As the situation evolves, we will adjust policies accordingly. Please stay in contact with your attorney or the court regarding your case.
We are NOT accepting e-filings for Civil Cases at this time. Any filings submitted for a Civil Case will be rejected.

Epayment Services Notice / Waiver and Payment Notice
For those using the Epayment services in lieu of an initial court appearance (arraignment), please know you will be making a plea of guilty to the charges as stated on your citation. Your are admitting your guilt of the offenses charged and waive your right to contest the offenses in a trial before the court or jury. The Court will accept your plea and find you guilty of those offenses. Further, if the citation involves traffic offenses, you realize that a record of this plea will be sent to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles. You also acknowledge that you have not been convicted of, pleaded guilty to, or forfeited bond for two or more moving traffic offenses within the last 12 months.
If you do not agree to the plea of guilty, please arrange to be present at Athens County Municipal Court on the date and time scheduled on your citation for an arraignment.
Proof of Insurance
If you did not provide proof of insurance at the time you were cited, please submit a copy of your insurance via fax at 740-592-3331. Include your name and citation number on the fax. Insurance coverage should be valid for either the driver or for the vehicle listed at the time of the citation. It also needs to be valid at the time the citation was issued. If proof of insurance is not provided, you may be subject to an administrative license suspension through the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. If you have questions, please call the court at 740-592-3328.
